Benefits for coaches and competitors

01Communication between competitors and their coaches is an important part of the tournament experience. A properly designed tournament should provide the competitors with a maximum opportunity to learn from their coaches. Traditional tournaments fail to provide this for most players.

02Consider a junior tournament based on the elimination system. After the first round, 50% of the competitors are eliminated from the tournament. All they can do is to review their first and only loss with their coaches.

03To really learn from their first loss players should have the chance not only to analyze it but to do the necessary adjustments and to have another opportunity to test themselves in the next match. This would allow both competitors and coaches to benefit far more from the tournament. Players will have another opportunity to improve their competitive skills. Coaches will have another opportunity better to understand their players' performance in a tournament environment and to instruct them accordingly.
